Surgery for knee and scared,,,,

Hi everyone,

 

Hope someone out there has something to offer in advise...

 

Ortho said that I have OCD (osteochondritis) and degeneration that is a little much for someone my age, only young  38...:)

 

So he wants me to have arthoscopic surgery, drill holes and possible screws and pins, as there are lesions...one appears that it may chip off...So I asked if we could wait until January and he said that he wants this done in next 2-4 weeks....He also was debating about putting me off work now...but I have a mostly sit down job,so I guess he figured that was ok for now...

 

So anyone who has this or has had this surgery please let me know..cause I am nervous...

I can't offer much on your particular type of surgery but I just had knee surgery 2 weeks ago for bone decompression with a bone graft and had multiple hole drilling and although recovery is a slow process, I was off nearly all pain medications a few days after I got out of the hospital. I won't know for awhile if my surgery was a success but I won't complain about pain.

I haven't got the call yet, and I am terrified...right now I am in alot of pain...past 2 days are really bad...So hopefully once this is all done, I will have some relief...

You will do fine! I was very scared before my surgery too but it was not bad at all. They kept me very comfortable and I was up and around before I knew it!
