I googled "cartilage replacement gel", found lots of sites, then "cartilage replacement cargel" and found more sites for this specific brand.

I think you'll have to ask what the plan is your doc is considering. It looks like the stuff can be injected for fracture repair, but other methods can be used too.

From another site the info made me wonder if there was any possibility of reaction in persons allergic to crab or crustaceans:
