I am 56 yrs, athletic all my life, adult rec league hockey for 20 years, moved to South Texas so no hockey but I continue to workout everyday. I am 6'1, 250 lbs, and got as low as 215 lbs for a few weeks, thats about it. I started running around a track everyday last fall and by the end of the year (between Christmas and New Year Eve, 2013), I got down to 225 lbs but discovered pain/discomfort in my left knee and stopped running. Running counterclockwise on the track everyday, I figured my inside (left) knee was getting hammered. In March 2014, I had MRI done and was diagnosed with torn medial meniscus. I decided to see if I can PT it back with an actual therapist and I continued to workout, cross train aerobics and weights 5 days/week regardless. Didn't work, still hurts especially after cutting my large lawn and my hiking vacation in Costa Rica in September. Here we are, October 2014. My orthoscopic surgery is Oct 27, 2014. I also waited since I also had heartburn issues and had to closeout that issue that ended well with endoscopy a few weeks ago. Question: I had Propofol as anesthesia for my Endoscopy (EGD) and I found it to be great since when I woke up, I was ready to go...no sluggishness, no nauseousness nor hangover type awakening. It was great. I was on my side away from her when told that I might feel a sting, which baffled me since I was thinking my IV was in place for over 30 minutes..so, after I said to the anesthesiologist that I didnt feel a thing..then bam, I was out and the next thing I remember, I am laying up straight in bed and awake as can be. I am hoping to have the same anesthesia for this procedure. The EGD lasts about 10 minutes. Orthoscopy about 45 minutes. For those that had General Anesthesia (no epidural, etc), please comment as to what you had. This would apply to those having this procedure the last 5 years. I am reading they no longer use Sodium Pentathol..so no stories on that as I know that sucks waking up with.
