Cervical Spondylosis with Radiculopathy

Hi All,

Few weeks ago I had left arm burning/pain, shoulder blade pain for which I visited doctor. Initially I was asked to for a X-Ray of my neck, which showed that the C4/C5, C5/C6 level has some problem, I was on medication (Tylenol) for 1 week, which didn't give much relief.

After 1 week I was asked to go for MRI to see much in detail, which showed that I have CSR with Radiculopathy.

I have pains in neck, upper back, arms along with this I feel chest pain (sometimes left, sometimes right). I have undergone couple of heart related tests previously (ECG, Stress Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Test) which all are normal.

The pain in my chest is making me go crazy thinking if it is something related to my heart. Doctor says chest pains in CSR with Radiculopathy is possible.

Does anyone experience this??

Pls help answering me.

Samjovial I just joined this forum. I wonder if you got a response to this already, but I can tell you that I do experience chest pain with my cervical OA. I have degeneration at c4to c7. I was told the reason for chest pain is the ribs attach to the vertebrae posterior and to the sternum anterior, when the vertebrae are damaged this causes strain/instability to the ribs and connecting tissues where the ribs connect posterior to the vertebra of the spinal column and anterior to the sternum, this the resulting chest pain. Yes! I have horrible chest pain. It's mostly where my collar bone connects to my shoulders. I too have cervical spondylosis in c4 thru c7. It's very painful, and has caused my right shoulder to lean forward. I've been to physical therapy for it, but there are days I can't do the exercises due to pain and stiffness. Especially when it's cold. I try to stretch twice each day, but we all know how easy it is to think 'I'll do it tomorrow'. :)

Anyway, I too thought I was having heart problems. I already have horrible pleurisy and lung issues, and I'd thought the pleurisy was a heart attack years previously. I will never know if I actually do have a heart related event, because I will just think I should breathe or stretch through it.

It is problematic, I too have a strong family history of heart disease. The first time I had the chest pain I immediately thought it might me my heart. It felt like I had a something sticking in my left shoulder blade and pain radiated anterior to my chest. With so many aches and pains related to my spine, it is sometime difficult to interpret the symptoms. What is worst, I am a nurse and I treated chest pain/heart attack victims for many years, but still hard to interpret my own symptoms. I say, when in doubt, be safe and get checked out. In reality, I did not expect to have chest pain related to a degenerative spine condition.
