partial knee on left arthroscopic on right

has anyone had this done , and how did you do .
was only suppose to have partial on left but while I am waiting for the partial I was out one day and tore the mesic in the other knee looking for advice . thanks

Hello & welcome to the forum. I would not have these surgeries close together at all. Make sure that you are healed from one & doing well. Obviously the partial is going to take longer to deal with. Any idea when either surgery will be scheduled? I had 2 scopes 3 weeks apart & it was really hard, much harder than I thought it would be.

well thank you , but I have already got them scheduled I will have a partial knee on the left and a arthroscopic on the right I think I be ok I hope

the surgerys are for dec 21, 2016 at 730am said I should be home by 5 that night I am not so worried of the knee as I am the arthroscopic , but feel confident that all will go well , though I am a little scared but tired of hurting .
if I do like you say and have the partial done first well I can not stand on my right leg it hurts to much and if I have the arthroscopic done first then standing on my left is compromised as well . have just decided to do it at one time and take one day at a time God will lead me through , thank you for taking time to talk to me . Brenda, I do hope that you will have someone with you at home to help you out, you will need it. Keep a cell phone on you at all times. When I had my knees scoped I went outside & sat down in a lawn chair & tried to get up & could not. I had my phone so I called my husband who was inside to come help me out of the chair. I had a lot of difficulty getting up from a sitting position whether it was on the toilet or a chair.

Follow your post op instructions to the letter. I have had 5 scopes total & they have all been different. Ice is awesome to help with swelling. Take care.

thank you Susie , and I will have my husband here with me and I have two kids and some friends going to take turns to be here with me . I had scope done on the left knee 4 years ago I do not remember so much pain but I will follow post op instruction to the letter , thou I have a tendency when I feel some what better to move , but I wont this time .I was told I will have to ice and keep legs up for 48 hours and I will do that I can get up to go to the bathroom but legs back up . I will write when I get home from surgery

Brenda, talked to your surgeon about a cryotherapy machine. I had this on my last 2 scopes & what a great device. My leg was wrapped & it circulated cold water around the leg. There was a device that looked like a small cooler attached that held ice that kept the water cold. Not only did it help with the pain but kept down the swelling.

Susie , I been looking at those online going to ask the people who bring out that cpm machine if I can rent one from them do u think they would have that

My ortho ordered this & when I woke up from surgery it was on me. My insurance paid for it. I suggest contacting his nurse & ask what you have to do to get this supplied to you. I am not sure if this is something you can rent at a durable medical supply place or not.

Hi Susie,
I had my surgery DEC 21 partial knee on left athoscopic on right fist four day were awful due to the pain on the right, the arthoscopic did not hurt none at all , which was a blessing cause all my weigh was on the right due to all the pain on the left.

Dec 27 they took out the staples from the partial brought in some rehab in the house which I am doing now and I will go to regular rehab on Wednesday the fourth , I am doing good
on my cpm machine I am on 95 , I learned how to ice the right way I am Blessed and I give Jesus the Glory and I am thankful and blessed to have had a great doctor to and my family.

I was so happy that day I could dress myself , put on my shoes , get out of bed and go to the bathroom by myself, I told my husband that I was a full fledge kindergardner

I am still on muscle relaxers,pain pills ,and ibprofhen but I am proud of me especially since I did not think I could .

I thank you for talking to me and helping me along the way it is good to talk to someone who has already been there

Hi Brenda, wow what a great update on your surgeries. I always love to read a good post about someone's surgery that went well. We all know that successful surgeries happen all the time. But, many times we see people that do not fare so well after any kind of surgery.

Let me know how your rehab on that knee goes. It very much sounds like you are on the upswing of things which is great.

If you have the time it would be very helpful to others that are in the need of either of your surgeries to read something current & positive. HW has many, many readers that are not members & they cannot post. Your posting will help many people believe me.
