pisiform bone in the wrist

Hi there
I have osteoarthritis in my spine and now I have big problems with my wrist and wonder if any of you have this problem. I have an enlarged pisiform in my wrist stopping some of my movement and obviously causing pain. Has anyone got anything they could share with me as I am wondering what has caused it.

Welcome to Healing Well, Dianne123! I'm sorry you are suffering with OA related problems. I have inflammatory erosive OA in my fingers. They are really deformed and some have fused so the joints no longer move.

Did you ever break your wrist? I know that the pisiform bone is one often fractured during a fall. Otherwise, I have never heard of your problem. What has the doctor discussed as an option for treatment? Is it the wrist of your dominant hand? That would make it even more difficult to manage I imagine. I look forward to hearing back from you.

No, I have never fractured it, that is what my doctor asked me. What is inflammatory errosive OA?

Hi, Ides,

I am so happy I read this post.  I have Erosive Inflammatory Osteoarthritis, too. I have it in my hands and in my feet. 

I was taking Plaquenil that stopped most of the pain, but I had an adverse reaction, and I can't take it anymore. I have been a bit distraught over this because since stopping the Plaquenil, I am having trouble w/my feet and my hands. Much more pain, and I'm afraid of losing my mobility.

I gave away one of my guitars this morning to our new Pastor.  I don't think I will ever be able to play again.

What meds have you taken that have helped the EIO?   My rheumatologist just put me on prednisone and Tramadol while he "thinks" about what to do next. Sigh.

In the last month I have developed pain in my wrist - it appears to be ulnar tunnel syndrome - swelling around the pisioid bone. I am going to try an anti-inflammatory diet for starters, namely the TQI Diet to see if this will reduce the inflammation in my wrist.
