I have searched the internet. I find people asking about
this procedure from 5 years ago. A couple are more recent but no one has replied to my query and I can not find anyone who actually had the procedure done and can tell me about
their experience with this surgery. I know from first-hand knowledge that shoulder surgery hurts, so I expect pain. At least a bit more than what I am currently in. However, I would love to hear how long their replacement lasted, etc. Maybe they can't type anymore.
In a reverse shoulder replacement, the ball is set in the scapula and the socket on the upper arm bone. A normal shoulder has the ball sitting on the arm and the socket in the scapula. I wish my AVN was just in one shoulder. I have it in both hips, both shoulders and it has started deteriorating my spine a bit. Luckily, it has not deteriorated as quickly as they thought it would when I was first diagnosed. I have had numerous surgeries to save my hips and finally, 4 hip replacements - 3 on one side within an 18 month period. The doctor's think my AVN is from shots of anabolic steroids. I crushed my hand and arm in a conveyor belt and was given the shots for 2 years while bone and nerve damage was repaired. I am not looking for sympathy here as I am happy and well blessed with health children, grandchildren and friends. It's just that the past year my pain has increased so much and I don't know anyone in this pokey town that has this disease and can relate to it. So I find myself spending more and more time out in the woods here where I live and very little time socializing. I am not lonely as I still can do my various art work.
Five years ago there were quite a few AVN support sites. New computers and lack of saving favorites from the old drives has caused me to lose these sites. I thank you for listening to my rant. I will keep searching. I will keep you in my prayers - and not to worry, I always come through standing up. Have a great day.
