Hi every-one, I am new to this site, and not really sure where I should post.
I don't have arthritis I had avascular necrosis in all my joints and have since had them replaced. 2 hips 2 shoulders and a knee.
I am 8 months post a shoulder revision, and am having terrible pain, in that shoulder and I have no idea why.In fact its worse than before I had it done.
looking forward to navigating this huge site.

Welcome, hippy. I'm sorry you're having so many problems with your AVN. I had AVN in my shoulder only, and didn't have to have a joint replacement. If you're having that much pain, you really should call your surgeon right away. Artificial joints can fail, infections can happen, and the sooner it's treated the better. I hope you find relief soon.

I have an appointment to see the surgeon on 10th October so just over a week away. I've had it 6 weeks or so now, one more won't make much difference. off to PT now.

will let you know how it goes, I doubt its an infection I am thinking more on the lines of rotator cuff tear

Hippy56- I was just diagnosed with AVN in the Left knee but am waiting for results of the MRI of the hips. Were you on high dose prednisone also? I am so sorry for the pain, I hope you find relief soon!

No not prednisone use, I got AVN of all my joints from a scuba diving accident in 1991, I got the "Bends" which went un treated. thats the result I was 35 years old, and exceptionally fit.

I am sorry that happened to you! I used to be very physically fit before Crohn's and all my complications. Everyday seems to bring some new health issue. Today I went to my cardiologist for clearance for my knee surgery and my EKG said I had a heart attack. The last few days of chest pain that I disregarded as hernia pain earned me a stress test for tomorrow morning. Oh joy. Crohn's, the disease that keeps on giving...

thats horrible, but so lucky you had the EKG before your surgery.imagine what it might have been like..!!!

My sister in law had surgery for Ulcerative Colitis with fabulous results.

Apart from rotten bones and Pain 24/7 I don't really deal with any medical issues. just bones !!!so lucky in that respect. hope your knee surgery goes okay what are you having done? is it just a look and see at this stage?

I wish it was just a look and see. They are going to drill the bone and clean out the necrotic center and pack it with cadaver bone in hopes it may prevent or delay a total knee replacement thanks to Prednisone induced AVN. I hope it takes!
