Question about finger joint replacement

Welcome to HealingWell, ssons. There is indeed surgery for finger joint replacement, I believe it's done primarily for the thumb. If you use the search box at the top of the page, you'll find several threads about thumb joint replacement. I haven't had it myself, so can't really help with that.

As to the pain and stiffness, if you haven't seen a doctor you should do that. In addition to the OTC anti-inflammatories (Naproxen, Ibuprofen) and Tylenol, there are other non-narcotic anti-inflammatories that a doctor can prescribe. I'm currently taking Mobic, as it works better for me than the OTC's.

There's also a topical anti-inflammatory gel that is available by prescription and is usually very effective for hand and finger arthritis. It's called Voltaren. I use it on my hands when my routine meds don't take care of me.

Almost all health insurance policies cover joint replacement surgery just as they would any other surgery. If you have prescription coverage, it will cover prescription anti-inflammatories and possibly Voltaren. You'd have to check your individual policy to see what's covered. Your HR department should be able to help with this also.
