Knee arthroscopy surgery!

I had knee surgery on Dec 27th 2012, so almost month ago! 3 weeks passed by and I was starting to feel better. I was able to put weight on my left knee and didn't feel so much pain. I still wasn't able to bend my knees though. Then last Saturday I woke up with my knee in pain (pain level was 6) I wasn't able to walk comfortably on crutches anymore and my the right side of my left knee was swollen. I wasn't sure what happened but it's been almost a month& I still can't bend my knee :( I havent felt any improvememt since Saturday as well. I had ACL recon & a tear meniscus. Did anyone go thru any kind of problems like this? I lost hope& I thought I was going to recover in about a month or so. Doesn't look like it so far. I had pt yday and she told me she never had any patient who had a lot of pain trying to bend their knee after a couple of weeks. I can extend but I absolutely can't bend it. Any advice?

Hi I agree with Judy2. I hope you call your surgeon asap.

You can take an NSAID such as aspirin, Ibuprofen or Naproxyn, or you can take Tylenol. Or if needed, you can take both Tylenol and an NSAID. Never take two NSAIDs at the same time. These meds are all over the counter.

Personally, I take Tylenol Arthritis two to three times a day depending on my pain level, and I take a prescribed NSAID daily.

An important point is to take the meds routinely for at least a few days to a week after surgery. It's easier to prevent pain than to get rid of it once it's set in.

If these fail, try extra fiber and lots of water in your diet with an occasional opiate - perhaps just at bedtime, when the pain is usually the most bothersome.
