Granted many do have good outcomes with hip replacements and I'm sure many do have many complications, ending up in re-dos, revisions, etc....
Thinking today, it's got to be short of a miracle that many do have good results after all we go thru with these replacement surgeries.
I had faith I would be better with a new hip, and granted, I have NO GROIN PAIN, but so many other complications....here is the letter I sent to surgeon over the weekend...no comment from him YET.....
((What Happened TO ME on that Hana Table?
Here I am going into my 5th yr post op and my life is consumed with so many complications from my outcome.
1. Femerol Cutaneous Nerve Damage....waiting for it to repair but so far not happening. Some days I more burning than others, and advil and another herbal pain med helps me get thru my life.
2. IT band damage, unbelievable, and I've had Release Work on this area fo 2 months, little help but the mess returns, never goes away.
3. Shorter right leg, found this out by a podiatrist about 2 yrs post op, I didn't know what to think and didn't realize the discrepancy thing can happen. So now I have my right shoe built up with heel lifts and innersoles and otc orthotics.
4. But with this leg being so off, it's affected my knee, which affected my foot/ankle.. So I wear supports on both those areas and PRAY I can get thru life with this added mess.
5. Probably a year or less out from surgery I ended up with Spinal Stenosis, horrible burning and pain and could not sit for more than 5 minutes for a time.....Had a lot of work done there with PT and acupuncture and other work from my rheumatologist, Dr. Smita Gupta.
6. My only positive from this surgery is NO groin pain from that mess.
7. I'd like to do alternative treatments for my knee, the thought of another surgery sends me in more pain...can't imagine ever going there again.....BUT, money is a factor for me and these alternatives do cost and of course our great medical world does not support and help pay for LESS INVASIVE treatments....
I've wanted to write this for months now and thought many times of coming back for more face to face appointments but I do have a harder time walking and so here is my history from the Anterior. I have done so much research and talking to MANY others and hearing their results so I know I'm not alone.))
I HOPE HOPE HOPE I never will do another surgery but if I had to do it over, I'd go with the posterior....anterior approach is the newest done in the U.S. but has a good record for many having that protocol.
