Hi, all. I found this thread when searching on "sinus dizziness" through Google.
I, too, have been through many thousands of dollars' worth of studies, both in my hometown and Southern California. No relief yet, but wanted to share with you all what I've found out, in hopes that it might help someone else. Most of the doctors didn't figure this out for me, but one said, before I even had blood tests, "I bet you've got _____."
We've not successfully treated it yet (am in the process), but we've found that I have candidiasis, which is a systemic overgrowth of Candida, a yeast which is naturally occurring in the body and which a healthy body normally keeps in-check. According to what I've read, some experts say that as much as 90% of people have candidiasis to some degree, though some may not be as symptomatic as others. Candidiasis is due to too many antibiotics, typically, and stems from the antibiotics killing off the beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract (where most of the immune system comes from). The end result is "leaky gut syndrome," whereby molecules escape through the damaged wall of the intestine and get into the bloodstream. Once they're carried throughout the body, symptoms develop when the body "attacks" the molecules it doesn't want to be there. The symptoms of candidiasis are many and varied, as most of us in this thread have found out. Many things people complain of can be traced to candidiasis. In general, all the symptoms are due to high levels of inflammation throughout the body. Many food allergies and chemical sensitivities are said to be caused by the escaping molecules.
I feel your pain. My sinus headaches (and other symptoms that either aren't pertinent to this thread or are too numerous to go into here) are never-ending. The pressure, pain and dizziness make it difficult to even bend over to pet a cat. I get better when I lie down.
I've had hypnosis, acupuncture, counseling, MRIs, spinal taps, energy healing, massage, self-hypnosis, bloodwork, pulmonologist workups, consults with neurologists, consults with naturopaths, EMDR, EMI and lots more. Prayer? Yeah, done a BUNCH of that. Been on an anti-Candida (vegan and more) diet for months now.
Probiotics are very helpful. Digestive enzymes with meals and between meals are very helpful. Supplements that control inflammation are helpful, but their molecules may leak out of the gut, causing the very symptoms they're supposed to treat! Cutting out sugar, booze and other things is exceptionally helpful. Medication, either conventional or Chinese herbs, is often necessary to get the overgrowth under control.
I urge others to read up on Candida. An Amazon search will reveal all sorts of excellent books on the subject. Some of the best books are by Dr. Crook.
I hope this post helps save others the time and expense I've been through in trying to track down the cause of my issues.
To your health,
Eric
