Thanks for the website. The only thing im wondering is that one of the sypmtoms is sharp pain when breathing. My pain is always there and it really doesnt seem to hurt any worse with breathing. When im hurting I dont want to move...I just wanna lay down and the pain goes into my shoulders and the tender ribs. And I get short of breath easily. But I will call my doctor this week if it does not get better over the weekend.

I dont think it`s pleurisy. Sounds to me like you`ve coughed too much, too hard and for too long. Another possible cause of lower back bilateral pain is kidney problems. How much, how often and what liquids and do you drink ? What color is your urine ? Can you see thru it ?

Sorry, thought you said lower. But thats good, you wouldnt like kidney disease. Still dont think its pleurisy- I ve seen pleurisy and it hurts to cough. I tend to tense the muscles of the upper back and shoulder when I cough. Eventually the tendons and muscles hurt from overuse. At least thats my experience. Do you not think the pain is a result of all the coughing?

I also have been sob for the past month, and I have been on two rounds of Prednisone. This is my first flare up, ever. Never even knew I had asthma. But I was diagnosed with mild asthma. I am constantly short of breath, feeling breathless all the time. The cortisteroids help a little. I was given a breathing treatment with Albuterol and it didn't help me breath normal again. I never weeze, it is only sob and pains in the chest and back. I have that same upper back pain you speak of. It can be sharp but mine comes and goes. I really feel like I need to get back on another round because I am still tight in my rib area front and back. For me its constant though, I got sick on the 16th of May with a bad cold, and have been like this ever since. My mom thinks it's mostly anxiety because it can manifest as back pain/tightness as well. Hope you feel better maybe we can support each other through this!

Emotional stress can manifest physically in many ways including triggering an asthma attack.

If the pain you refer to more like a soreness ?

wow you sound just like me. I got sick the 15th of May with Bronchitis. I am having the exact same symptoms as far as the shortness of breath. My back pain/tightness can be worse at times and I feel the ache all day but it usually bothers me more at night. I never have wheezing either just a lot of chest tightness and SOB. Im on Alubterol and Flovent inhalers. But Allisonc7 keep in touch with me since we both seem to be going through the same thing. I have my email and IM posted on my profile.

I think the soreness could be from coughing so much when I was sick in combination with my asthma still flaring up. But this is my first time experiencing this so I really cant say.
