negative effects of advair?

 I was put on advair (the strongest dose) by my PCP when my asthma was aggrevated by a upper respiratory infection in January.  The asthma specialist immediately took me off of it when I finally saw him roughly 6 weeks later saying I shouldn't have been put on it.  Now my asthma is the worse it has ever been.  I have tightness, chest pain, and dizziness.  I am currently on singular, asmanex, and albuterol when needed.  I have had to go on predinsone 4 times now.  My doctor basically said I have to stay inside on bad air quality days and I am miserable!!  Has anyone heard that advair can make your asthma worse even when you are off of it?  My airways feel so irritated.  Help!

When I was initially dx'd with asthma, i was put on Advair, also. My breathing was better but within a week I lost my taste and smell. That was about 5 months ago and my taste and smell comes and goes. I refused to use the Advair and was put on Symbicort and Singulair and both are working pretty well. Still have chest pain at night, tho. Believe me, after reading many posts in this forum and talking to other people I know with asthma, Advair is not the answer!!

I was put on the lowest dose of advair once and it made my asthma flair.
so yes it can, but many people also like advair too and can use it.
I use Asmanex (and like it) and Xopenex is my rescue (along with Xopenex for nebulizer)
and for allergies, I use clarinex, astelin, saline nasal spray.
Try a saline nasal spray and ask your current asthma doctor if maybe
nebulizer treatments would help.
Make a list of all your concerns and take it with you to your next doctor's appointment.
