Balloon treatment for chronic sinusitis ....

Good evening all.
I am hearing a new treatment for chronic sinusitis is less invasive than surgery. Has any one heard of balloon sinuplasty and does it work?

How long have you had this and do you get frequent sinus attacks ??

I was misdiagnosed with chronic  sinusitis and bronchitis for years. Just want to pass an idea along to you.

I have PIDD which is Primary Imune Deficeiency Disease-learned that at age 57.

I did not do well even after sinus surgery and my ENT suggested it. When I was tested , I learned I had a genetic disease. Just wanted to pass that along in case it helps. Just thought I'd check...do you do daily nasal washings? I started them about 15 years ago, and very soon found relief from my constant sinus infections. I was wondering...

Hi Betty,
I do a different type of nasal wash that was recommended by my allergist. I do it twice a day (at least...more during pollen season--when I come home from a big exposure) year round.

This washing is done as follows:
1. Put some salt in a pint container (any container is fine...when I travel, I use a glass/cup, whatever is available).

2. Add very warm water.

3. Lean over a sink. Sniff water up nose fully...as far as it can go--(some will come out your mouth) then let it drain back out into the sink.

4. If it seems like the water is too salty (I don't measure), add additional warm water and repeat.

5. If my sinuses are very involved, I do more than one wash at a time.

6. After the wash is complete, I blow my nose to get all mucous out.

7. That's when I spray my nose with 2 sprays each of Astelin (antihistamine) and Flonase (steroid/anti-inflammatory).

I don't know if this procedure will help you, but as I said, it has made a tremendous difference in my sinuses. Before I started the procedure regularly, I was headed towards sinus surgery as well. Thankfully, this did the trick. I do it religiously, though. I never skip it.
