Hello everybody ,

I have been suffering from asthma for last 2 years and asthma really sucks. The other night, i couldn't seem to breathe right. My friend kept making me laugh a lot. i took too much of my inhaler, and got the shakes, and had a hard time sleeping.

Just thought i would share...most of the time my asthma is under control but it reared its ugly head in the last few days... Can anyone help me with useful tips and suggestions to keep asthma in control.

I've had asthma off and on 20 years. Yes, it will rear it's ugly head at times. The most important thing is to get on a maintance medicine. Then see a pulmonologist on a regular bases. Mine watches me carefully for problems and gives me lung function tests on a steady bases. She has kept me limited to two-count them two yeah attacks a year.

I take Zyertec, Advair 250/50, and used to do Nasonex ( got sores so had to stop). These help me and I'm allergic to everything imaginable.

I LOVE my Advair. I used to be on Asthmacort years ago, but was always have trouble. I've been on Advair for 6 years now. I've had no troubles with it.

Hey Joy,

Thank you so much for sharing such an interesting piece of information on Asthma medication. Even I am using Advair for last 2 years now and I don't have any issues. Also I visit pulmonologist on a regular bases and get advices from him. Share more tips and suggestions you come across so that it will be helpful for people like us to control our asthma.

It's good you have a pulmonologist, but maybe it's time to consider going to an asthma/allergy clinic/doctor for a
follow up..sometimes our bodies need a break period from our medicines in which they just don't work as good
anymore, so maybe a new asthma medicine could help you...So go in to your doctor...

Hey Chartreux,

Thanks for your concern. You are right. If we take the similar medication for a long time, our body gets immune to that medicine and therefore it doesn’t work effectively. I consulted a doctor recently and he diagnosed my asthma level. He changed my medicines and at present my asthma is under control.

Sorry, no advertising.  I believe you've done this before!  :)

Hi sorry to hear you are having problems with asthma. I have had asthma all my life and in the early days there where no inhalers. However now I use the preventertive inhaler, which I would hope your doctor will have given to you. You need to take that every day to ensure it builds up so that you do not need the other inhaler you take when you have an attack.

I went to a pulmonologist who had me sit in a small enclosure breathing in and out through a small tube. There were 5 different tests performed during that sitting. You get a little winded, but there's not much to it.

Hey All,

I started taking advair a little over a week ago and I didn't like it at all. It made me feel dizzy and I have anxiety disorder with panic attacks so when I heard about advair causing sudden death in some asthmatics it made me very nervous. My doctor gave me singular and I don't start it until tonight. Is anyone else taking singular? Just wanting to know if others have taken advair or singular and what side effects it gave them

Hey All,

I asked my allergist about taking Advair, and she replied that the warning was misleading -- she said that the deaths occurred in a few patients taking a long-acting bronchodilator (like Salmeterol, which is in Advair) "unopposed" by an anti-inflammatory (the steroid component included in Advair). My mind was eased somewhat, although it seems you see "life-threatening" warnings like this on just about every new drug they introduce these days.

I think there is a risk for everything in life.

I've been on Advair for 5 years now and have had no trouble.
I've done singular but it didn't seem to help me.
