Hello, I had a mild allergic reaction to some industrial strength dust at my job and it was almost an emergency because I work on wind turbines 300 feet in the air. At the local clinic they gave me something that eased my breathing and
opened up my lungs. I asked them what would happen if I had a real bad allergic reaction and the person who gave me the breathing treatment said that I might need an EPI pen and that I should see my doctor. I read online that an EPI pen was bad for people with heart conditions and I suffer from hypertension. I am very concerned about
this because out in the field we are pretty far away from the nearest clinic and I think that I need something that is portable should this ever happen again. Also, I don't know what specific dust caused my reaction, but I think it might be the carbon dust from break pads on the turbine. We are always careful when working around the dust but I do not want to be caught in this situation ever again, I just take my health much more seriously after having has some back problems a few years back. I guess what I am asking is if there is anything else I could take in place of an EPI Pen when I go out into the field because you never really know what could happen 300 feet in the air working in
wind energy jobs.
