please help new member and allergic to my new puppy

Make a no dog zone in your house, but I hate to say it- you may have to give up the dog.
You decide which is important to you- allergies or no allergies.
I had to make that decision with perfume and make-up.

I'm sorry to hear about your reactions to your new puppy :( I absolutely love dogs and I think it would kill me to get rid of my pooches. I'm sorry to say this too but you may have to get rid of it. What if you were to give it away to a friend? That way you can still see your pup but it just won't be in your home.

You can try all the anti allergen solutions but it won't help if you have severe allergies along with asthma, it might help reduce your symptoms though. Here are some things you can try:

~wash your dog with an anti allergen/dander shampoo

~if the hair is that of a long haired poodle, take it frequently to be trimmed

~if you have carpet, the carpet has to go as it can retain the dander which is what causes the allergic reactions

~get a hepa filter or air purifier

~be sure to wash the floor at least once a week - after the carpet is taken out

~do not let the dog on the furniture

~dust the house every day

As you can see, having an allergen free house with a dog is a lot of work. But if you try these tips, it MIGHT help you keep your dog.

Thankyou to everyone who replyed to my post i am very grateful. I really dont know what to do i was thinking of ringing up the people we bought our puppy from to see if they would be prpared to take him back if i am no better in a month i really dont understand it i scored higher on cats and i have had a cat for eleven years and have benn fine with him? i am on a lot of medication including prednisolone and azathiopriene which have caused their own problems such as weight gain and low immune system.

It frustrating trying to live with allergies as im sure lots of you know, the most weird allergy i have is to broccoli and sprouts which started last year and ended up in the recusss room ive been eating these vege for years. i now have epi pens to carry around with me does anyone on here have any weird allergies?

Ive spent most of the day with our new puppy and was ok slighlty itchy eyes and eczema slightly up in the folds of my arms so i took a piriton that helped but i can feel my eyes starting to itch again as im writing this so will take another piriton, i hope it settles down, feel like im moaning lol.  Thankyou again for advice
