Eczema gone crazy

I've had eczema since I was a baby, but I haven't had eczema be this bad in years. It's mostly located on my butt checks and thighs. I've also been getting acne/zit-like things every once in a while which get big and then ooze pus. My skin also gets irritated after shaving, like there will be pimple-like things and eczema patches, and then I can't shave for a few weeks.

Any suggestions to calm this down (other than OTC anti-itch cream)?

i take allegra (the generic) everyday. it is an antihistamine and does keep me sleepy. i use only dove soap because it has creme in it. i use purex no dyes no additives for wash and use only bounce no dyes no additives for softeners. i use cremes when i can to prevent dry skin and have found noxzema to be very good and soothing.

i know this is a lot to digest but it is worth it to try to get it under control. wishing you well.

ps see you are already taking zrytec so probably allegra won't help.

Have you considered the possibility of food allergy causing or contributing to your eczema? My Sister gets an eczema flareup when she eats tomatoes, for example...and there is a rash that can be caused by eating gluten called Dermatitis Herpetiformis that sometimes can be mistaken for other types of rashes if the dermatologist isn't savvy...

Ugh, I do not want to take pred!

I use Dove body wash, Tide detergent for sensitive skin, and Vaseline lotion. Soon as those run out, I'm going to use one of those all-natural, organic brands.

Hmm, I have oral allergy syndrome for fresh fruit, but I rarely eat it so I don't think that can be contributing to the eczema. I've been tested and scoped for celiac, and everything has come back normal.

Argh, I'm getting those eczema patches on my arms and some weird pimple things in my armpit after shaving. I do have a derm appt. soon.

Eeek! Avoid Dove! Dove is evil to my skin. Don't use organic stuff or all-natural stuff either, they're expensive and theres a much easier solution!

Hypoallergenic products! ^^

Go to Asda or your local supermarket so you have alot of choice, and look at the shower gels and body washes, but most importantly: Look at the ingrediants! Avoid Products that have an ingredients list the length of the great wall of china! And when your looking at the shower gells etc, look for the words Hypoallergenic, thats all you need, its not expensive and its not natural stuff that could produce an allergic reaction.

It sounds like you also need hypoallergenic shaving cream, foam or gell whatever you use, don't just buy it because it says "for sensitive skin" check the ingrediants and look for something hypoallergenic. =]


If, once you've changed all your products and your skin is still just as bad, don't lose hope and don't throw all your products away in a rage... Go to your doctor, show him your rash and he will give the appropriate cream or even antibiotics if you have a skin infection.

Most importantly, don't forget your not the only one who gets this, and sometimes it can make you feel so low and annatractive... This isn't so! Skin isn't everything and it changes all the time, whats more important, is you, your personality. =] Don't let it make you want to be somebody else... you should always just be yourself.

Have you tried using Eucerin lotion? I've used their Calming Creme because it is made to moisturize and prevent itch. I do some work with them and I started using this creme on my legs because they were getting so irritated after shaving and I have to say that its worked wonders! Maybe it will help you too!
