Thank you SmurfyShadow. I understand that asthma can be serious. My doc told me that mine is reflux induced, therefore within my control. Every once in a while, certain foods bother me, and an asthma attack follows, typically less than once a month. By sticking to a reflux-reducing diet, I do not need daily medication. Sorry for the choice of wording in my earlier post...the doctors do not correct me when I call getting an asthma attack "becoming asthmatic".
During a pulmonary function test, the type of medication in my rescue inhaler offered no change in my lung function, and I was told that my lungs were as strong as the firefighter's who are regularly tested. Yet a doctor witnessed one of my episodes, and was able to say it was definitely an asthma attack. Seems as if I need to ask some more questions about
my condition.
If you have any ideas, please let me know. Asking the right questions makes all the difference.
jdsong, thanks for your post. Being as my asthma is reflux induced, hot peppers would send me flying
Glad they worked for you. Maybe you need to talk with your doctor if the rescue inhaler does not always do the trick. After reading SmurfyShadow's post, I'm going to talk to mine for sure.
