Labyrinthitis - inflammation of the inner ear

hello, does anybody suffer from this symptoms, after a cold, of ear infection you can develop this condition labyrinthitis cause, dizzy, movement of the eye, ringing of the ears nausea also when you walk and you make sudden turns etc, I been having this on and off for 8 years comes when I get sinus infection or severe allergies. I fund the name navigating on the web and my symptoms are just the same. I need to find a good Doctor, because is making me crazy. When I go to the store and walk around I feel like I drunk 4 shots of tequila and it is not fun!!! If you suffer this please give me and advise. thanks

Hi - I had my first bout of labyrinthitis about 8 years ago. It gradually subsided but I had another one a couple of months ago, which I'm still feeling the effects of.

It, in my case, is damage to the inner ear. This damage causes the fluid in your ears not telling your brain when it's about to move, so causing dizziness and severe sickness.

The room spins round and it is a really awful feeling. Lucky people make a full recovery in about 8 weeks but the majority have mild to severe symptoms almost permanently. My symptoms are:

Feeling weighed down, as if gravity has got a lot stronger
Head feeling 'swimmy'
A full up feeling in the ears
A heavy head

Eye exercises can help - you must keep moving so your brain can can adjust to your 'new' ear-fluid position!

Move your head to the right and to the left, as if watching a tennis match.

Then keep your head still and just move your eyes right and left and up and down.

You should do this a few times a day - it can feel uncomfortable because you really feel you want to keep your eyes and head still, but persevere.
