about six months ago I developed a cough after some sinus problems. Coughing a lot of mucus which came from lungs plus having problems with post nasal drip. Mucus was thick, green and worse in morning but would also continue throughout day. Coughing was really bugging me so back to doctor. Chest x-ray was clear so I figured it would eventually clear. No such luck-back to doctor and tryed a round of amoxicillin. Seemed better after but still mucus discharge.

Well we come up on six months,still have mucus and cough so I have a Cat Scan. They said my lungs look Ok, but looked as though I just was coming off of infection. She prescribed z-pack. Took first one and still have some cough with clear mucus. ON my second z-pack now. Still have some cough but it has improved somewhat. One of biggest things that drives me nuts is the tickle I get around breast bone when I have to cough. Does anybody have experience with long term things like this?Thanks..... BOX

My best friend is going thru something very similar. She's getting frustrated because she has this annoying cough after being sick as well but she's not any closer to getting answers. She even had allergy testing, everything was negative, and has an appointment with a pulmonologist. Btw, her cough has been going on I believe for about 2 years.

I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you but I just wanted to tell you that you're not the only one out there with this issue.

I have had terrible mucus in the morning and it went on forever. I went to my doctor and was given meds. Went to allergy specialist more meds. Went back four weeks later and they said I was worse. They sent me to an ENT and he thought I might have acid reflux and gave me meds. Meanwhile while all this was going on I had become so week and was not eating much. Sooo on a Sunday morning I went to the hospital emergency room. They did all kinds of test and came back telling there was nothing wrong with me and that I had such anxiety that it caused my sinus problem. I think its the other way around. Meanwhile I realized that I have been having eye injections for macular degeneration and my problem began around that time. I'll see my eye doctor at the end of the month. I keep getting better all the time. Do believe this is the cause. This was a new med that has just come out. Maybe they can put me back on the old med, that didn't give me trouble. Wishing you well. Thank you Dee.I've tried every allergy medication and its still with me. Had my eyes checked ........they're OK. Trying 6000IU of Vitamin-D right now. Doctor checked it and it was way low. .Don't think it's the answer but I'll try anyway.

Im having similar issues as well,dry cough,some wheezing,mucus here and there. Ive had an upper GI done,came back gerd/acid reflux and in a week Im going for an asthma test. The coughing is so irritating and embarrassing. It started After a cold in the summer , a few people at work are having coughing spells and one has a lung infection, I thought at first it was something caused from contruction being done on our floor. 😒Still trying to figure whats causing the cough

Faith-Mines started after nasal stuffiness in the summer also.I was hacking out yellow and green from morning till night for about 4 months. The colors have stopped now but the mucus(clear with consistency of snot) is still coming. I can tell its basically from lungs because I can see the air bubbles in the phelgm. Also when I cough my nose runs like a faucet.I had an upper GI last year right after colonoscopy and I also have gerd. It's not causing the cough IMO.This is the weirdest thing.... I'm 61 years old and have never had this before. OH-I've had green coming from lungs but it didn't last this. long. Wishing you well Faith...........BOX

One of the main symptoms of asthma is coughing. I have it pretty bad and have a lot of mucus with it; coughing is my main asthma symptom. And when I have an attack, I usually get a runny nose and a lot of throat clearing with it.

Have you been tested for asthma? Asthma isn't necessarily triggered by allergies, so even if allergy testing is negative, you could still have asthma.

I have had allergies all my life but developed asthma as an adult after an upper respiratory infection.

Also, GERD can definitely aggravate asthma. I take medication for it, but the thing that helped most (with GERD and nighttime coughing)was elevating the head of my bed. I bought some bed risers from Walmart and just put them under the head part of the bed.

No I haven't been tested for asthma.how is that done? I've had the allergy test done........thanks BOX.

P.S. I've elevated the head of my bed also.
