I've seen this in the past - a friend that has asthma and is allergic to certain animals seemed to have it start up before he even entered the home with the animal in it!

I'll have to take note of this with my own asthma! yeah

 

Have you ever noticed your asthma becoming worse due to emotional factors?  Let us know!

...Teri ...I see my Mom all the time with her asthma annd she has COPD.....emotions and stress sure play a big part in her illness. She worries about all the kids and then gets going I have tried to explain this is not good for her but she also has alzheimers and cant seem to grasp all that I am saying ..sometimes she has more lucid /good days than others ......she was smoking OVER 2 packs of cigs daily and telling her doc "only smoke 6 cigarettes a day now " .......I am sure by the quick advancement of her COPD he is aware she is fibbing just a tad lol ..........I put her smokes away at night and Dad gets them out in the am ...she told dad that "That girl took my smokes again "........as you no doubt have figured it out I put them up so I dont worry about fires and Dad gets some sleep ..he looks after her when I am not there.I try to explain to siblings that she doesnt grasp all they are saying thus she gets all worked up and goes into an asthma attack but they are not listening /or just dont get it at all .Now with Cait she has attacks when upset emotionally as well am teaching her to calm self down if possible and not to let peeps get to her....she is already a worrier due to my illnesses and I have told her time and time again I dont want her to worry about anything ...thats my job lol......Last couple of days has not been good for her as she is worried about school.......me being at home alone (howie works 14 hrs ) I love them for the worry and their constant love and concern but I wish they would quit making themselves sick over all this too............Take care and God Bless ...Lyn

I do understand a bit about alzheimers, I worked in the Geriatric field and a couple of my patients had this...My own Grandma had either senile dementia, or alzheimers.  I'm very sorry to hear that your Mom has this as well. 

 

I have asthma - currently as I speak :) - and mild emphysema as I smoked for several years, though I did quit a few years back, along with something else they haven't put a name to yet -Therefore a diagnosis of COPD.

 

The combination of illnesses that your Mom has is hard to control, especially with the emotional aspect as you know. :)  It seems that you have most of this under great supervision and I applaud you for all that you are doing to help her and your Dad!!

 

How old is Cait?  My Britt is now 17 and she's had to deal with allergies since birth along with asthma as well.  I sometimes think she handles it better than I do! Though she does get aggravated at times and she worries about Mom, too - just like you do, Lyn and just like I did. :)

all these years i have seen my mother suffering from asthma and take medicines which gives her only temporary disease
i am really worrying what must be happening to her
really asthma is a killer disease

........Thanks Teri for your kind words ........Cait is going to be 15 in April ............Had to fight with the school over her carrying her own inhaler.........she is not that irresponsible to give her meds to someone else and I told them that ......I can see there point as well with the dangers the inhalers pose to those who do not need them ..................please be well and God Bless.....Lyn

tiadesai, asthma can be terrible to experience, especially when you are not able to breathe properly and get enough air in.  But now a days if it's treated right away with inhalors, nebulizers and other medications prescribed by your Dr., it can be controlled!  I've included a link for you to read about this and I hope this makes you feel a little better about your Mom.  yeah
