Hi all. I'm looking for anyone who may have experience with unexplained allergic reactions. I woke up one morning after sleeping roughly 8 hours to extremes stomach pain. I had diarrhea and was very nauseous. I started to lose my hearing and feel terrible so we headed for the hospital not knowing what was going on. On the way I started getting bad pains in my upper back and mid chest. I thought it was a heart attack. Once at the hospital the severe hives started and my lips and eyes started swelling. I was given iv benedryl and steroids and sent home with no explanation. I am of course petrified of this happening again and worse. Scared of my throat closing. This was about a month ago and I just can't get past it. I just don't get what could have caused it. I did nothing out of the ordinary the day before and slept all night before even having a reaction.

Anyone ever have this?

Can you write down everything you ate, drank, medicines, everywhere you went, etc. for that day and the day before? It might take a few days to remember everything, but there had to be an allergy trigger.

A trigger can be something that you've had previously. And the reaction can come as late as 24 hours after exposure. I once took a puff from an albuterol inhaler, with I'd had a couple of times before, and 8 hours later had intractable tachycardia. Migraine sufferers who have sulfite sensitivity can react the next day.

IDIOPATHIC URTICARIA/ANGIOEDEMA....it just happens and it may never happen again. Dont get too worried about it as it happens once to more ppl than you might think and never happens again.
