I have never had allergies and I'm 36 years old. Out of nowhere two weeks ago I had really itchy eyes that got worse throughout the week. Also, I started sneezing like crazy and my nose would not stop running. I went to the doc bc my eyes were so itchy I could barely keep them open.
I missed two days of work bc they were so swollen and I couldn't stop rubbing them- it got so bad it felt like there was glass inside my eyes. I even had a popped blood vessel in my eye bcc I was rubbing so hard!
Anyhow, the doc thought it was pink eye and gave me medicine - 2 days later it still wasn't any better so I went back and she asked if I ever had allergies and I said no- never. She said it seems like something kicked in and that's what she thinks it is.
She gave me Pataday eye drops and told me cool compresses and benedryl and over the counter allergy medicine. Even with all that, they are still intensely itchy.
Not sure what else I can do. Doc said if this doesn't work, she's going to send me to an eye doc. Any suggestions? This is horrible. And how do allergies just kick in when you are 36?!?!
