Non-allergic sinus pressure/pain and post nasal drip?...

Greetings,

I have been suffering from sinus pressure/pain and drainage, for over two years. I went to an allergy doctor to be tested for allergies, I tested negative to all allergens. I've been to an ent, he did a cat scan of my sinus, and it showed mild sinusitis, 3 runs of antibiotics hasn't helped much. The ent said he could do a balloon dilation, but he couldn't say if it would help or not. I don't know what to do, I guess just keep taking decongestants and anti-histimines.

All suggestion wil be appreciated.

I had the dilation and I don't recommend it until you've tried EVERYTHING ELSE! It's surgery! It's painful and not fun at all. Watch a video. Dilation crushes the bones to open up the drainage tubes. It only made my infection worse.

Try sinus washing with one of the squeeze bottles. There are many posts about it - see the search box at the top of the page.

We build up a plaque of bacteria in the sinuses. It's really tough to get antibiotics into the inside of the sinuses. There just isn't much circulation there.

Washing out the sinuses a couple of times a day with salt water helps me a lot. When I start to get a drippy nose I know it's time to get the bottle out again.

Never use tap water. It can contain parasites that can get to the brain.

Squeeze bottles work better than Netti Pots because you get a little pressure with them to get through the tiny drainage tubes.

Thanks Alcie, I went back to my family doctor and he told me the same thing, don't do the balloon. I've been using bothe squeeze bottle and nets pot,. I've been taking alicedin (garlic extract) and it seems to be helping. Today is the first day I haven't took sundefed in quite awhile I hope it works.

My son has horrible allergy symptoms - nasal swelling, congestion, itching, you name it.. We took him to be tested for allergies and the skin test came back negative for everything. The doctor was very confused because he had all of the classic allergy signs .. so they did blood testing and he has several severe allergies! Did you have a blood test, too?
