I am a 21 y/o F suffering from a CONSTANT 24/7 headache for 2 years now. I have tried EVERYTHING (don't even ask if I've tried something…to give you an idea I've tried sinus surgery to botox to intranasal nerve blocks, to LEECHES recently..). My mom has been better than any doctor I've had (and I live in LA where many of America's top doctors are), and from her research she and a few of my doctors have concluded that there may be some mast cell problems going on.
I suffer from chronic allergies & sinusitis, depression and anxiety, I have been diagnosed with EDS & dysautonomia, I have a blood clotting gene and am a poor serotonin transporter (although testing shows there is plenty of serotonin in my system). ANYWAY, tonight I am starting Cyproheptadine (Periactin). This is an antihistamine that is rarely used anymore, and usually just in children, as drowsiness is a common side effect. It is a serotonin antagonist and has done wonders for all kinds of headache sufferers.
Has anyone taken this and with any relief? I'm starting super slow tonight… 2mg at bed, then up to 4mg twice a day in the next couple weeks.
