Reoccuring Sinus Infections

Have been trying to exercise, walk and swim.  Got a terrible headache today and hope to hold out till my next doctor's appointment on March 11.  I know it is a sinus problem and if it keeps up I'll have to get to the doctor sooner rather than later. Does anybody else have sinus infections as a common thing?  Thanks and best of luck to all

I used to get sinus infections alot.I finally told my Dr,We are not getting 100%of the infection,so he ordered a shot od Rocephin & followed up with 10 days of Cipro.I haven't had one since,that was 5 yrs ago.

I used to get really severe sinus infections when I was in my early 20's and even though my doc told me this wasn't due to my allergies, it seemed odd because it would always correspond. I would have really bad allergies then bam, I got a sinus infection. Since I've been on allergy meds, my sinus infections have decreased significantly.

yeah since i was 3 and the pain and asthma get worse if im breathing in cold air try a steam inhaler (beaker shape with a mask that gos over your mouth and nose with 3 drops of olbus oil in (i use 5 but the max recomended dose is 3)

also try 10mg of loratadine daily(antihistamine)

Several years ago now I went to the Dr. with a severe headache. It was so bad that my eyes were tearing like I was crying. They sent me home with a hypo..I eventually had allergy testing and was allergic to multiple things...one severely so. Anyway, the nasty thing was that I had this problem but was allergic to penicillan too, so the cure was difficult to come by for the sinus infections, too...the walking etc. I was doing at the time was actually making me worse..I have a severy allergy to ragweed so all the time I spent outdoors was making me worse. I had the desensitivation shots and am better than I was but this time of year can't spend much time outdoors. It seems so silly that it can be so nice outside but it makes you sick...I sincerely suggest to have allergy testing done so that you can avoid as much as possible the things that make you most miserable. I take fexofenadine 180mg. all year around now. I am allergic to dust too and since I am a florist, random things can bother me that I come in contact with. I don't know if this helps but I hope something might...take care...

hi- i live in fl but used to live in ny. i have had sinus problems since i was 30 yrs old and now i am 50....i have taken every known AX to kncok them out but they come back....i dont know why i take beconase steriodal nasal spray which works some to kep it down.....everything blooms here all year round but i think i am allergic to dust and household things too.

i dont have any pets but when i used to have a kitty i was not allergic to him.

my older brother jay  has had sincus problems and allergies since he was 3 and he  is now 56 and stil ahs em, my mother had ragweed  allergies all her life so i guess it is a heritary. i went to a allergist once and he did some blood testing on me ( VERY EXPESNIVE) to find out what i am allergic to and found grasses and pollens and trees ect... it is awful

Hi, it didn't flare up that much...thanks for all the replies.

I had 18 years of allergy shots and I am a "known asthmatic". I am unsure as to whether I have GERD.

I had two of them a while back and I hate taking all the antibiotics.

Hello.

I'm thirteen and I have terrible allergies. When I was in fifth grade I went to Barnes Jewish Hospital for allergy testing. While I was there I found out I had asthma. The year before that I had a sinus infection that lasted for several months. I was put on every medication possible to get rid of it and to help with my allergies. Finally that spring I had my sinuses widened and my adnoids removed. It worked for two months and then I started getting sinus infections again and my allergies started acting up again. Since then I have had a sinus infection every two to three months. What should I do to get rid of them?

Hi there and welcome to Healingwell :) Do you take any allergy medications? If not, then it might be wise to start some - sort of head off the sinus infections before they start. Doctors say that allergies can't cause sinus infections, but I find that hard to believe sometimes. I used to get horrible sinus infections also, plus I had (have) severe allergies and it always seemed that when my allergies acted up, I would get the sinus infection. But unlike you, when I had my adnoids and tonsils out at the age of 30, my sinus infections stopped. Do you take a vitamin daily? If not, you should take one to help boost your immune system and keep your body healthy. Plus too, you might want to add a cool mist vaporizer in your room at night. This can help keep your sinuses clear.

I do take medicine for my allergies and I also take a multi-vitamin everyday. I have also tried putting a vaporizer in my room but it doesn't seem to work.
