understanding the name of medications in Britain compared with US?

:-)  Hi there

First of all let me say

'Hello, nice to see people getting together sharing useful information, this is my first post'

I live in the United Kingdom, I have noticed that the terms for drugs differ somewhat in the US from here and I wondered if anyone could help me compare them? eyes   confused   am interested in the new  Uniphyl, would that be the same here?

Also my drugs for asthma are known as Flixotide, Serevent and of course Salbutamol. Are they the same in America?

All of your meds sound the same as here. I started uniphyl a week ago and it is magic for me. I can breathe like I never had asthma. I can walk long distances now and do stairs without wheezing at all. It feels like heaven. I almost forgot how it felt to breathe and not even notice I am breathing. I have to get a blood test Monday to see how much of the uniphyl is in my blood. I also use combivent, advair, duo neb, singular, xopenex(just changed from albuterol) and fluticasone spray. I have a nebulizer also. No medicine did for me what the uniphyl has and I am wondering if I need all the others when this new one works so well. I see the pulmonologist in February and will ask. I don't know if uniphyl will work for everyone like it does for me but I love it and have no side effects at all. Hope this helps you:)

Uniphyl is also called THEOPHYLLINE if that helps any?

Nice to meet you. I'm in Texas Just 20 minutes south of Houston. I use the following asthma meds : Singulair, Asmanex, and Xopenex is my rescue inhaler is used as needed and for my allergies I take Clarinex and Astelin and a saline nasal spray . hi im also from the uk, i google the medication to find out the name differences....im on salbutamol and becotide for my asthma, hope this helps, lorraine xx

I thought they were supposed to be changing things, so that all the names are the same worldwide now, or is that just in Europe?

I certainly wish they would make all the names the same, now that we are communicating so easily accross the world it is needed.
