I saw something on television

 

where they are testing mice

 

for allergic reactions to try to help us.

 

I am not that young and have had the

 

allergic/asthma problem for 29 years

 

but such a surge of happiness came

 

out of my mind and heart.  Just hang in

 

there everybody...progress can happen!!!

Yes, there is hope!  My husband has been donating plasma for allergy research since 2001.  He has so many unique food allergies and the donation place he goes to just loves it when he comes in to donate, they say they're always getting requests for the kinds of antibiodies of which my husband has lots.

I am an eternal optimist that has faith in hope! I truly believe that one day, a cure or effective therapy is on the horizon :)

I am so glad they are doing something for us.

I just figured there were so many of us and

we just linger on for so very long nobody cares.

So glad someday there is a possibility of getting

to the root of this problem which for me is always

taking my singulaire...irregardless of price...

the best thing they have put on the market to

help with my respiratory problem. :-) :-) :-)

Razzle,

Please tell your husband he is an amazing person and we appreciate his efforts.  That is awesome that he has been willing to do this for so long.  Give him a hug for me!

Thanks, I will pass along the hug for you. My Husband says donating the antibodies helps him feel better, too, so it is an additional treatment for his allergies. Plasmapheresis is actually an FDA-approved treatment for some autoimmune diseases (such as Myasthenia Gravis, Crohn's, etc.). The only requirement is that one must have good veins - the needle they use at the plasma donation center is huge!

Well, thank him again for me.  A dear friend of mine has MG and this past year she has started on Plasmapheresis.  She has really been there for me during asthma attacks and especially since I was diagnosed with epilepsy about 18 months ago.  She did take me for my first visit to my neurologist and asked my doctor for a referral.  She had seen neurologist in three states before and is getting the best care ever from her neurologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where I also go or treatment for my epilepsy.

She is about 46 and is trying to work as long as she possibly can because she knows she will eventually end up not being able to work. She is a professor at the university here where we live.  She still insists on trying to take me down to Vanderbilt for my follow-up visits, in between her plasmaphreresis. She's not a person to argue with.  It does help to have her go because I forget things, but then she does tell on me, like when I'm driving when I'm not supposed to.  So, I am trying to get myself in better shape so I can help take care of her.  I have recently moved and I am just one block over from her.  I will let her know that your husband donates plasma.

Razzle,

If you are comfortable with it, please email me.  I would like to know more about your husband donating plasma, how he got started, etc.  I just think it's a wonderful thing he is doing, especially since it is helping a friend of mine.  If you do, put something in the subject line about HealingWell so I will know who it is from.
