Serious allergic reactions

Hi RM, welcome to Healingwell. I don't have serious allergies that result in me having to use an Epi-pen but I started getting allergic reactions to hazelnuts when I was 37. I am, however, seriously allergic to Sulfa. Not that I have to use an Epi-pen but I get welt like hives and severe intestinal pain. Allergies can hit us at any given time - even thing we have had in the past with no reaction. It's good that you have the pen with you at all times and hopefully things won't get any more serious for you. It's best to be vigilent to all foods you eat and don't hesitate to use your pen if you feel the beginning of an allergic reaction. Nut allergies are the most common allergies out there and also the most serious. Many foods contain nuts or their by products so be sure to read the labels on all the foods you consume. And be especially vigilent when you go out to dinner because even if a meal doesn't have nuts in them, they are still prepared around things that contain nuts. Who knows.......maybe one day you will outgrow your allergies - I hope! :)
