Hi all -

Recently, I've began itching and noticed hives that would appear after itching. now, it's gotten worse and any small amount of pressure and my skin raises and then turns bright red and eventually fades away. I cant sleep at night because i am so itchy. my symptoms are consistent with dermographism.

i had lyme disease about a year and a half ago, was treated with oral antiobiotics and then with IV for about 12 weeks and more oral which i stopped taking because i felt better. anyway, i'm wondering if anyone else has had lyme and was treated faced this after treatment. this could be something totally different but i wonder if it has anything to do with having lyme since it never leaves your system.

any help or thoughts would be great

Did you do any detox as part of your Lyme protocol? I'm asking because skin itchiness is a symptom of liver problems, and the liver has to work right to be able to detox sufficiently. So you might try some Lyme detox stuff (epsom salts baths, body brushing, etc.) and see if it helps any...

no, didnt do any detox. But the last time I was on meds was about a year and a half ago, do you think that's possible?

Hi,

Yeah, I don't know if there is a connection between the Lyme and your skin rashes/reactions. I do know that if your immune system gets suppressed, it can revive the Lyme, so you might want to consider getting re-tested to see if it has reactivated (the Lyme IgM would most likely be positive again with a reactivation). You might try posting your question in the Lyme forum here at HW also.

This is the leading cause of super infections... I wish your pharmacist or doctor would have been more direct in explaining your medications to you. When you start to take an antibiotic it kills the weakest bacteria first. When you continue to take it, it starts knocking out the stronger ones. IF YOU STOP TOO EARLY then the only bacteria left in your system are the very strongest ones and, having been exposed to your antibiotic, they will often mutate to become resistant.

Please notify your doctor that you stopped your course of antibiotics early so he/she can make an informed decision on how to help you.
