Still wheezing al the time

Is it possible for asthma to be so bad that you wheeze everyday and have to keep using your inhalers to breathe.  My asthma went off the charts this summer and I have had to use my 2 inhalers 4X a day just to breathe.  My dr. said it was OK to use them if I needed to.  I just wondered if anyone else has this same problem with bad asthma everyday.  Will it get better once we get a hard freeze and all the pollen and ragweed disappear?  This has changed my life so drastically.  I can hardly do anything but stay home and stay calm and sit around.  I am so tired of this!  Will taking my allergy med everyday help?  I take Allegra, but take it at night since it makes me drowsy.  Any and all answers with your experience would be greatly appreciated.

I know my post has been read by others.  What I don't understand is why I don't get any replies.  Certainly there are other allergy sufferers who have problems with asthma.  I am just looking for a litttle help and some insight as to why this is persisting.  I would gladly reply to a post if I had an answer or could help someone.  If you suffer like I do I really would appreciate knowing what I can do and what has helped you.  Thank you.

You need to be patient with having your post answered. The hits you get on your post can be from non members looking for information about wheezing and trying to find answers themselves. They may not be able to answer your questions. The Allergies/Asthma forum is not a highly populated forum unfortunately. I don't have asthma but it makes sense to continue your allergy medications on a daily basis. Many asthma sufferers have allergies as well and they're allergies can make their asthma worse. Have you tried any other allergy med such as Zyrtec yet?

Thank you for your reply.  I know it sometimes takes time to get an answer, although I usually post on a different forum and get many answers fairly soon.  I will hope someone with my symptoms will be able to help.  Yes, I do take allergy med.  I take Allegra right now.  I used to take Zyrtec when it was prescription but my insurance switched me to the Allegra.  I don't know which one is better or if one is better, but the Allegra does make me drowsy so have to take it at night.  Thanks again for answering.

I personally like Zyrtec. I have been on Allegra for years but it never did much for me but I kept taking it anyway. I have tried soooo many allergy meds in the past though. I once tried to get a prescription for Zyrtec but my insurance denied it. But now that it's OTC I decided to try it. So far, I LOVE this med :) I can actually wake up in the mornings and not have a nose full of gunk and no sneezing, it's been great! :) All these meds that you only take one a day, it means that they are effective for 24 hours. So it doesn't really matter what time of day or night that you take it. I've always taken my Allegra at night too because of the sleepiness. Do you find that Allegra or Zyrtec works better for you?

Hi Red,  I too don't really find that the Allegra works that well for me.  I still wake up with a very runny nose and cough up a lot of stuff.  I haven't taken zytec for a while so can't remember how well it worked but since it is over the counter now I think I will get some and see how it works again.  The only thing Allegra does for me is give me a very dry mouth. I dno't recall being sleepy from the Zyrtec.  Thanks for the suggestion.
