Chronic Sinusitis Treatments?

Hello was reading in another forum that studies have shown that Chronic Sinusitis is caused by a Fungus. And that the Fungus can be caused by Candida. Have any Chronic Sinusitis sufferers ever had any success using a Candida cleanse or the anti-fungal Oil Of Oregano sinus rinse? Thank you in advance.

I get chronic post nasal drip that triggers sore throats and chest infections and have had it all my life. Tried everything. Really looking for some help thanks.

i had major sinus surgery last year. its called FESS surgery and it is meant to correct chronic sinusitis. they put you to sleep, break your nose, cut up your deviated septum and straighten it then sew it back in to place, they then drill behind your cheekbones to create bigger sinus cavities. its horrendous. but it worked. it gave me a new lease on life. my sinuses were actually rotting away in there. for the first time in my life (im 28) and i can breathe freely, minimal congestion, can eat dairy and not get my head blocked up. it was nasty (i had black panda eyes and swollen chipmunk cheeks with a smooshed nose, but great medication) but it was soooo worth it. look it up- F.E.S.S- its the last option after all other avenues have been exhausted.

Thanks i had sinus surgery years ago and it didn't help and it was horribly awful. Glad it worked for you.

oh candida isn't that mostly caused by antibiotics like a yeast infection darn that really hurts I had it once (not long ago)as an adult and I'm sure several times as a child .Regarding the sinuses well the sinuses get the brunt of everything so its hard to tell for sure but I will have to look that up myself but pretty sure its antibiotics that cause candida rather than the sinuses being the culprit . I believe once you just stop the antibiotics it goes away there are topical creams which are enormously the best way to treat it , and eating right and or multivitamins

...CANDIDA is a very scarey thing and when I had it I was afraid of being disfigured with scars for the rest of my life but I wasn't at all and healed up very quickly it took less than a week but the selfconsciousness of retracting it took much longer to get over ...its a very scarey thing to have both pain wise and appearance wise

I agree with the sinus operation and glad I did it to but I will never do it again oh I went through hell mostly because of the anesthetic but nonetheless I'm glad I did it

Thanks for scaring me to death! Kidding. Sort of.

I am deathly afraid of 'going under the kinfe' and have heard lots of scary stories about shoving gauze up my nose.

Don't get me wrong - glad it works for some. but may not for me.

Is there anything else i should try?

Good luck in your search for an answer. I've suffered with terrible postnasal drip for my entire life. It's usually clear mucous, but is very thick and really annoying. It's constantly hanging in the back of my throat. I'm going to discuss it AGAIN with my allergist tomorrow. He recommended guaifenesin (Mucinex) to thin the mucous, but I really didn't get any relief from that.

I almost forgot to mention this easy, basically free,and amazing treatment for sinus problems.

I don't know if you're already doing these, but I do nasal washings (at least) twice a day, and I've been doing them for years. Although they don't do away with the postnasal drip, they keep my nose very clear and sinusitis free.

I put salt and (very) warm water in a container, shake it up, then pour it into my hand and sniff it up nose. I sniff it up as far as I can. When you do a nasal washing, you do it leaning over the sink. It can't go into your lungs, so don't worry.

It works wonders. Normally I do it morning and night, but when I'm having problems/allergies, I do it even more. I tell my friends about it, but most of them are afraid of sniffing water into their noses. You'll find that after time, you will have a much clearer nose, and will sleep better.

After doing the nasal washings, I spray Astelin (2 sprays twice a day) (antihistimine) and Flonase (2 sprays at night--a steroid spray for inflammation).

I can't recommend nasal washings highly enough.
