Hi I am new 23yrs old male and I hope you guys can help out somewhat or if anyone is in the situation I am in. So when I was a little kid i was diagnosed with allergies to corn, soybean, among numerous other food allergies and allergies such as pollen, dander, etc. Well despite being allergic to these food i still ate food with corn and soybean stuff in it without having a reaction for the most part. The only time i would have a reaction is when I would drink a sugary drink such as Hawaiian punch or something of that nature with high fructose corn syrup in it and even then my throat would just itch nothing else. Well just recently i seen my allergist and asked for another skin test because I noticed when I last ate some shellfish my thoat started to itch like crazy so I stopped eating shellfish and haven t ate any since then. I also noticed I developed a tree nut allergy because I ate some granola bars with nuts in it. Well the results of my skin test showed I was pretty much allergic too 95% of the food allergies on the list except meat, milk, and eggs. After that the doctor tells me too take a RAST test too to look at my results of that. After both test my allergist says I shouldn't eat shellfish(which i already knew), any type of nuts(new allergy for me), or corn(which i have been diagnosed with before), and soybean. My dilemma is this how is it that I have to stay away from corn and products with soybean when I know I have ate it without any kind of reaction at all except for the mentioned fruit punch type drinks??? This is stressing me out because im out shopping for food looking for stuff without these products and i see food i know i could eat but supposedly since the RAST and skin test say im allergic that i shouldn't eat it. Its confusing the hell outta me. Especially the day I had the test i ate honey nut cheerios with no reaction at all and chocolate covered peanuts. Among food with corn syrup and soybean in certain food.
