Nice to meet you markyirish09...
I've had Asthma all my life and the cold air up North is a big trigger for me..living in the South has help...
Try to find a good Asthma/Allergy doctor to figure out what happened, for now...The medicines to treat asthma now are amazing.

My first asthma attack was when I turned 19. I'm now 41. Mine became terrible about
9 years ago and had to go on year round meds.

I came to know about
my asthma one year back. My asthma gets worse when I feel stressed. I start wheezing heavily and my breathing starts to get labored. For many days I battled with inhalers, telling myself I could control it. Recently, I haven’t been able to. And more recently, it’s gotten really bad – again. Last week, I got a new inhaler – that’s three in total. This new one gives me palpitations for about
4-5 hours after I take it. I start shaking on the inside and then it reaches my extremities and continues. It’s pretty freaky.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My nubulizer makes me shake for about
an hour.

Hey Couchtater,
Thanks for the information. What kind of tests are conducted to diagnose asthma? Can anyone help me out?

I had my first attack last weekend, aged 32, which came as quite a surprise. All my muscles when into an extreme spasm too as if breathing wasn't already tough enough to control. I now have an inhaler to try for a fortnight, and whilst I'm turning it and inhaling it as I should, it feels like I'm sucking on air. Should there be a small residual taste when you inhale?
Sorry to hear you're suffering a similar fate. I don't know if these attacks can be a one off. I do sympathise with people who suffer on a regular basis.

I had my first attacks at 16. I'm 26 now. My asthma has changed a lot in that time. When I fist had it I'd wake up at night with my airway completely blocked. But for years I've just been coughing with no sign of anything so life threatening.

My doctor diagnosed me with asthma with a breathing test, questions, and listening to my lungs.

I remember being given a test when I was young to see what I was allergic to. They removed small circles of skin and put allergens on the circles to see what I would react to. Now they can do a simple blood test that see back 90 days at what your body has reacted to. Like dust, pollen, DANDER, and all other allergens. Everyone here should seek to get this test to be treated correctly. I have suffered with asthma all my life, 43 years. Some things I have noticed some asthmatics have pets and deny that the pet is the problem or smoke and deny ciggarettes are causing a problem. I have gotten the biggest help for my problem by exercising. I jog 10-12 miles a week on treadmill or outside. I must use a rescue inhaler BEFORE I run so as not to have exercised induced asthma attack. I no longer have daily problem, like waking up at night with an attack, or waking up in the morning with an attack. I just cant be around furry pets with lots of DANDER. The misconception about
pets is that the hair or skin is the problem. Its actually a protein made from the pets saliva or urine. DANDER is a microparticle that i am allergic to. GET TESTED for what you are allergic to.

Hey All,
Thanks for your information. Recently I have come across a new test called eNO test which is used to monitor asthma level in patients. I just need to know whether this test is helpful in monitoring asthma and also wish to know if this test has been used frequently by physicians to monitor the asthma level of patients. Can you get some information about
this.

I haven't heard of the eNO test. If my allergist does it he hasn't used it on me. I just blow out virtural candles on a computer screen. If I can't blow them out my asthma is messing up.

Hey Joy,
Thanks for your swift reply. Even I have not come across eNO test so far. I am doing a research on asthma and hence I came to know about
eNO test which is quiet interesting. Also I came to know that, the largest health care insurer in the Mid-Atlantic has adopted a policy stating that measurement of exhaled nitric oxide is considered medically necessary in the management of asthma patients. After that I was interested so much in investigating about
this eNO test and I wish to gather more information on this. I am also planning to talk to my doctor about
eNO. If you come across any information on eNO test and about
the devices which is used for eNO measurement, please do let me know.
Check out this link......

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am sorry if I have posted something against the Forum rules. I didn't ask for any medical advice. I have just requested Joy to share with me if he come across any information about
the eNO test. Because I am researching on asthma and I came across this eNO test which sounds interesting. After reading few articles about
eNO I thought that eNO measurement helps in improving asthma control. That's why I have posted about
eNO in this Forum so that it's helpful for all asthma patients.
Regards,

Hey All,
Came across a medical Journal (Primary Care Respiratory Journal - 2009 ) which states that using a device which monitors eNO such as NIOX MINO analyser had frequent technical failures and significant sensor inaccuracy issues causing the researcher to apply a manual correction factor and/or rely on the expensive NIOX lab instrument as a backup.
Doesn't this device sounds cumbersome to use it?
