Thats absurd.
If the Board of Pharmacy walked in and heard that pharmacist giving you the advice you just stated he would get a review.
Yes, your husband may believe the "dye-free" is the sole reason it doesn't put him to sleep. The mind is a powerful tool in manipulating the effects of the body's feelings. However, the active ingredient "DIPHENHYDRAMINE" can be used to help you relax and fall asleep. Read the back of 1st generation Unisom, or Sominex containers in addition to the others posted on my last post or look them up: you can use WebMD.
As a pharmacist when people have simple, rare inability to fall asleep what is my first line product to help them? "Benedryl". Something most people have in thier medicine cabinet and have no reason to run out and buy. And no, I don't care if you prefer dye-free or tablets or capsules, store brand or name brand. And as a pharmacist no medical reference brought to me or my staff or colleages has stated "dye free" eliminates drowsiness. Its all dipenhydramine and in most people (not all) will cause drowsiness.
