Who has advice on air purifiers? Do they work well and give a noticeable difference in your allergy symptoms? Which one would you recommend? Do you have multiple ones in your home or just one in a specific location?

I am also wondering on air filters. Will it make a difference switching from a general air filter to a specific allergen filter? I am curious if anyone has noticed a difference when/if switching it.

there are quite a lot, so you should be able to find some reviews...
Like anything else there are good one and bad ones, personally I've yet
to find one that truly works....Others will be by with what helps for them and there are pasts
postings on these, so go and read those too, but please don't respond to the older posts...

I use true air with hepa filter that I bought at Walmart. It does okay.

I have an Alen 350 with a HEPA filter. It was more expensive than a lot of the other options but it was rated very good for its price bracket. I can definitely tell that it helps my allergies in the house. I would definitely recommend it, though if you can find one that is more affordable that also works that might be a better choice. The other thing to consider when you are shopping is the cost of filters and how often you will have to buy them.

And my opinion is that allergen specific filters or HEPA filters are much better than general filters that come in air conditioners etc. Those are mostly made to filter out large particles, you will want to get rid of much smaller particles like dust and pollen.

Make certain your air filter does NOT have an ionizer.  Ionizers create ozone which is harmful to your lungs. 

I have a large Sears brand air filter.  I seemed to help the first week, but in the three years since I am uncertain.  I do notice there is very little dust in the room it runs in.

I have a HEPA filter--can't say that I've noticed a difference in allergies, unfortunately.
