Hi everyone,
A little background. I have anxiety/panic disorder. I've had it for about 22 or so years. I also have allergies. I've had these all my life. I had allergie testing in 2002 and was allergic to just about everything. about 8yrs ago I statred with NAET (alternative) and had really good luck with it. I hardly have any sneezing or watery or itchy eyes since then. To bring this all up to speed, This last Dec. I started to have vertigo. Had panic attacks along with the vertigo. Then in the later part of Jan. I had gotten costocondritis. More panic and anxiety. Well the vertigo is almost gone now due to going for VRT training & the costocondritis is subsiding. When I had the costo. I had a problem taking a deep breath. I felt like it was part anxiety and muscle tension. It felt like there was something stuck in my chest. Like phlem and I couldn't get it up. I remember having the same symptoms last year around Feb. or March. But in the last week it has come back again.
I went to my allergist on Friday to find out if it could be asthma or because I'm on a beta blocker (for 9yrs. now for anxiety) or if it was just anxiety or allergies. He did a quick breathing test and I came out in the 80's percentail range. He said it was border line for mild asthma but then my older tests were also in this range and when given the bronciliator mist and tested afterword I hadn't improved but 3 or so %. So that showed I did not have asthma. He also said I could be a person who could be out of the norm and that my 80's could be normal for me. He too is a person who is out of the norm. His readings are also in the 80's and he said he is not an asthomatic.
(I have alot of phlem constantly from nasial drainage and I seem to cough up alot of phlem also)
So he gave me Advair 250/50 to try for 2 weeks. One puff in the morning hours and one puff in the evening hours. He said that if I felt much, much better I had mild asthma and if there was little or no improvement I did not have asthma. My question is: Can I do this and if it does not do anything for me is it dangerious to just suddenly stop it? Just him giving this med to me has my anxiety up very high and I'm afraid to take it. But I'm afraid I have asthma and now a new anxiety/panic cycle has started with this. And how safe is Advair?
Thanks for letting me post. It's just madning having to worry all the time.
