Alcie,
You need Vitamin B12. Anesthesia interacts with and depletes Vitamin B12 from the body. Vitamin B12 is needed to form red blood cells, so depletion of B12 leads to anemia, which can cause breathing difficulties that may be mis-diagnosed as Asthma.
Also, there are often sulfites in anesthesia. Sulfite exposure can lead to chronic issues because it can overload the sulfite oxidase enzyme pathway - this is part of the methylation detox pathway in the liver. Methylation is a critically important part of metabolism - affects the ability of your body to process medications, histamines, purines, alcohols, and other metabolic byproducts, etc. A comprehensive B-Complex supplement should help if you aren't already taking one. This is in addition to the B12 supplement - most B Complex supplements to not have enough B12 in them to correct a deficiency.
Other things that may help: Magnesium is known to help breathing problems, is a natural antihistamine, and is needed by over 300 enzymes in the body. Deficiency can mimic a lot of other disorders and cause a number of symptoms, including muscle pain, breathing difficulty, etc.
Vitamin C is also a natural antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant (anti-aging), and helpful for those with allergies.
Nettles (leaves) - natural antihistamine, good for inflammation, high in vitamins and minerals needed by the body for a variety of health issues, helps arthritis (joint pain), etc.
Zinc - supports a healthy immune system, bones, liver detox enzymes, and needed to balance with copper to prevent copper toxicity. Due to today's excessive exposure to xenoestrogens, it is important to be getting sufficient zinc to counter-balance the effects of the xenoestrogens on copper in the body. Men need zinc for a healthy prostate (and it is my opinion that chronic zinc deficiency may contribute to BPH/prostate enlargement in older men).
Iron - most women tend to need to supplement iron at some point due to monthly cycle blood loss. Iron supports healthy blood, healthy heart, and also supports the detox enzymes in the liver. Main thing with iron is to not overdose and to not take iron supplements within 2 hours of calcium supplements due to competition for absorption in the gut.
Always consult your doctor about supplements before taking them.
I hope this helps...take care,
