Sores in my nose from Oxygen

Hi I've been on home oxygen for about a year now. The last 6 months or so I have gotten a really big sore in my left nostril. I asked my doctor about it and he said not to worry it should go away. Well in the last 2 months it has doubled in size and is really painful. The doctor also suggest I stay off my oxygen so it can heal up and go away. Well I can't be off my oxygen because I wont be able to breathe. I read that you can put a little bit of neosporin or Vaseline on the spot. But I am also aware that your not supposed to use any oils or anything that can become flammable. I am also on antibiotics cause I carry MRSA in my sinuses. (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). I just want these sores to start healing because it hurts. Any advice??

some people on cpap that use nose pillows rub a little lanisoh in each nostril. lanisoh is a brand name of lanolin and seems to work better than no name generic lanolin. you find it in the baby aisle at the store. it is nipple cream that nursing mothers use.

this is to prevent it from happening. i don't know about healing the sores once they are there.

There is a saline gel called Ayer. It works well on nasel sores. You can buy it at most drug stores without perscription, also try saline wash.

Love, did you go to your primary or your (fill in the blank Joy lol) sleeping doctor? I'm wondering if you need fitted for a new mask. Idk, I'm not a doctor though, I'm only the Alz patients caregiver. Also, Joy and Bill gave you wonderful advise, however, I always recommend even check with your doctor for otc (over the counter) stuff just to make sure it is ok. There are some that can interact with rx's (prescription medication), some that can have too much of one thing (Example: if you were taking 2500 mg of percocet daily and took 1000mg Tylenol you od on your Tylenol)
