I've recently been trying to figure out the source of mild hives I have been getting on the inside of my arms, outside my shoulders, and around my waist. The mild hives are more or less a raised collection of raised tiny bumps scattered, with a couple dime-sized patches here and there on my arms. There's no major swelling but it has been a bit itchy....
I recently stopped eating chicken this past week (after reading the posts here) because since last year, I no longer can handle raw chicken in my hands for cutting. It would irritate the skin and make it itchy until I would wash them well and use a lotion. So, recently in the past week I stopped eating chicken, and the itching subsided completely over the past 2-3 days. I didn't need to use any ointments / lotions / aloe. I have yet to see the hives subside, but I expect it will be another week before this happens.
Yesterday, I had a load of scrambled eggs at a brunch, and this turns out to MAYBE have started some itching again... So, I am dropping eggs from my diet as well. The itching has pretty much stopped, but during the time before, I've used cortisone 10 and Elidel (a past prescription) to keep the itching & swelling down. Things are better.
My (mostly mild) allergies consist of mild asthma associated with shedding dogs / cats, ragweed and pollen seasons. My dad is also allergic to eggs. I highly doubt my hive outbreak is related to anything else but chicken. I was never allergic to dogs before college, but somehow during that time or after there's been enough boozing that may have triggered / enhanced a few of these allergies.
