Has anyone tried acupuncture for seasonal allergies?

According to my Chinese acupuncturist, acupuncture works by causing release of endorphins. That won't do anything for allergies.

After 4 or 5 sessions the allergen may be gone from the environment.

I tried it for pain with absolutely no relief, and it seemed the pain got worse. It's expensive and not covered by insurance. For me, the needles hurt - a lot! Personally, I wouldn't do it to a kid.

But maybe it works for some people.

I get allergy shots which keep me completely symptom-free year round, and they're covered by insurance. Some people get them weekly, some bi-weekly, some monthly. They don't hurt much either.

Well it's been three weeks and two acupuncture sessions and he's still symptom free. I'm quite astonished. This is a kid who every spring just gets hammered with the trees and grasses so this is no coincidence. I wish I had brought him sooner!
