I have been getting allergy shots for about 5 years now and have never really had a horrible reaction to the shot before but recently the last two shots I have had such a bad reaction I am now on prednisone and I'm having asthma attacks resulting in using my nebulizer. I called my allergist and he wants me to continue the shot at a .1 dose next time and see what happens however the last shot was at .2 I don't see that there will be much difference. This reaction has been so bad that even the prednisone does not appear to be kicking it. I am actually pretty scared to continue shots at this point. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I can see it happening with a new bottle or if I had just started shots buy after 5 years and no issues before I thought it is kind of odd. My anxiety is very high now and I am pretty frustrated. I felt like a million dollars on Wednesday before my shot but the following day and ever since I have felt horrible. My shot has always made me feel better in the past, not worse. sad

it seems, instead the shots reducing your allergies, you are getting sensitized to the allergies shots, i suggest stop doing it.

I have an appointment with the allergy DR on this week so we will see what he says. From his messages he sent me it sounds like he thinks it's not the shot, I completely disagree so I might be finding a new allergy DR soon. My allergy DR I started the shots with retired and this guy took over my treatment, not such a fan so far. It appears he keeps wanting to blame my Asthma issues on something other than allergies. The only time I have an asthma flare up, which is not often, is when I have a bad allergy attack. Just too frustrating....

It sounds odd that you had a reaction to a shot out of the same bottle you had used previously. I think I'd ask for a new bottle though, just in case there is something wrong with the serum.

I tried a couple of allergists until I found one I liked. My problem was food intolerances, in particular foods containing sulfites. This of course, is not treatable with shots, but the first two allergists didn't believe in it. I also have a few pollen allergies plus dust and mites, which the shots control very well.

My allergist got me started keeping a food journal, which identified my food intolerances. I also write down all my meds, drinks, and the time I take everything and also reactions and the times of those. I would suggest to everyone with any sort of allergies to keep a journal. It really helps with finding the real culprits responsible for reactions. There are many posts on this, which you can find using the search box at the top of the page.
