A little background on me...about
20 years ago, I started developing outdoor/indoor year round allergies. I took allegra/claritin/zyrtec alternately for years with little relief.
18 years ago, I started having oral allergy symptoms with fresh fruits and vegetables.
10 years later, I started allergy shots. I never felt better with my outdoor/indoor allergies. But I don't eat fruit anymore, I stay away from most fresh vegetables, but sometimes I just need a salad or lettuce on a sandwich. My mouth gets itchy, raw and blisters sometimes. I started developing this with almonds and other tree nuts too.
5 years ago I swore off bbq after 2 violent episodes of illness several hours after consuming bbq.
Almost 2 years ago, It was like a switch. I did move from MO to KS at this time as well.
I drank a 16oz beer of my favorite kind and things went grey, my heart was racing, I was sweaty and I thought I was going to pass out. This started it all.
Now it happens too often that I feel like this, and I am getting scared to eat. I also try to calm down to not cause anxiety to take over. It is almost always when I eat out. Not when I cook at home. I do use sauces and spices at home.
Some more foods that this has happened with as well was potstickers, BWW and old chicago chicken wings (even naked), bruggers bacon/egg/cheese bagel, mcallisters memphian sandwich and a golden grahams cereal bar.
The other day I had a iced vanilla latte and a few sips in, I got a wave of warmth and my heart was pounding. I attribute to cross contamination of some type but can't be sure.
I always stop eating immediately and drink tons of water. It can take 30 minutes to several hours to go away.
I was tested about
1.5 years ago and my tests showed I am allergic to lobster and oyster, but not crab or shrimp. I almost passed out eating crab once several years ago. I no longer eat any seafood because I do not know what is accurate.
Black walnut, hazelnut and coconut tested positive, but I have eaten them for years up until I had this test that is. Same thing with peas, showed high reaction. I used to eat peas every week with no problems.
I am very careful about
sauces and spices at restaurants and ask them to be left off. I eat only basic recognizable ingredients. I usually take a bite or 2 then wait a few minutes to see if I will feel anything before proceeding to eat.
Funny things is, unhealthy food such as McDonalds, Taco Bell, BK, Wendy's I can eat with no problem.
I am not sure where to go for more testing or how to make sure I am safe. Any thoughts/ideas?
