My body does not do well with certain metals.

I was wondering if anyone in here has had a bad reaction to titanium implants. My oral surgeon would need to perform bone grafts on me first which would include a titanium cage that is worn for four to six months.

I'm not sure if I should go through with this. If I don't, at least my two missing teeth are toward the back of my mouth.

You can be tested for metal allergies, speak to your dentist about referring you out for testing. This is common now to test patients that have certain allergies especially when having spine surgery as they implant titanium hardware.

AM, I am sorry that I failed to mention in my post some information about titanium. I spoke about people having various surgeries requiring hardware. People with metal allergies often had to have the hardware removed. Many years later it was discovered that few people had problems with titanium & now it’s used pretty much exclusively. The track record is great for fewer complications including breakage & the body rejecting it.

Another thought hit me about the prescription Flonase you were concerned about. I couldn’t find your thread here but wanted to point something out. The steroid in the Flonase is in topical form, very, very little would get into your body. Pill form steroids on the other hand are systemic & should only be used short term because they stay in the system much longer. If you ever decide to try the the Flonase you should be fine.

Some days I have a senior moment or two, lol.

Thanks, Susie, for taking the time to add your thoughts.

I was on the Flonase for about a month and I began having issues with my voice breaking up while I was talking. So I went off. The flonase was mostly for my allergy issues. I've found if I use my air purifier, this helps me deal with my allergy symptoms. Especially when my particulate matter meter has a high number.

When it comes to the titanium implants, I've decided not to have them because of the nerve damage I have from an old neck injury which occasionally causes nerve pain around the L side of my head. I can't imagine having these implants planted in my jaw. I did read that sometimes implants can cause nerve pain.
