New to site and new to asthma

Hello everyone. This might be long but I have questions and am hoping for some answers. about 4 months ago I started having chest pain and trouble breathing when I worked out, especially when I did water aerobics. I thought the chlorine was bothering me as my lungs felt like I had suffered a chemical burn. One day after 2 hours of water aerobics and then a 8 mile bike ride later I got chest pain and could not catch my breath. After a night in the hospital and a cardiac cath I was diagnosed with exercise and allergy induced asthma. I am 51.
I am going through the usual denial thing but getting better. I started on advair but asked the Dr for something cheaper so am no on Qvar. My questions. I looked up all the side effects to the Qvar and bone loss is one of them. I already have pretty bad bone loss which is why I lift weight and exercise so it doesn't get worse. It scared me enough I tapered myself off the Qvar but now am back to feeling like I can't catch my breath. I don't feel like my asthma is bad enough to have me on steroid inhalers and it worries me about the side effects. I have albuterol for quick relief. Also the Qvar gives me terrible hot flashes. Anyone else have concerns about these meds or am I just freaking out for nothing? What else could I use? Thanks for any responses in advance.
