THE FLU OR ASTHMA

When I went to take my PFT I was really sick. I either had the flu or a BAD cold. My test came back positive for asthma. I have never had any problems with asthma. I have always been very active with no breathing problems what so ever. I wanted to know that because I was sick could that have affected to test results?

If you're sick, then that usually causes inflammation in your small airways. That might have been why your PFTs were lower. I go for PFTs every 6 months because I have asthma and Cystic Fibrosis, and if I'm sick with a cold, then my numbers are always down. It could very well have been allergies as well. Have you been tested for allergies? Seasonal ones maybe?
