antihistamine side effect

Hello all,

I'm hoping someone here can help me.  I've been taking anti-histamines for abou 4 months now for what my dermatologist calls general over-active immune system which causes itching and hives. I've been on Claritin, Aerius, Benadryl and now Reactine (Zyrtec).

I've noticed my hair thinning during this time.  Does anyone know if this is a side effect of antihistamines? If it is, is there anything I can do to stop it without going off the meds?  I'm really freaked out over the hair loss.  Maybe I should just quit the meds and hope for the best?

Are you on any other medications that could be causing the hair loss? I too haven't heard of antihistamines causing hair loss but if you have an over active immune system then maybe your body is just out of whack. Do you take a multivitamin? How about a supplement for hair, skin and nails? But I agree that you should bring this up to your doctor.
