Many symptoms, looking for answers

Hi Everyone,

My name is Susie and I post on some ofthe other boards, crohns, chronic pain, UC, depression and now here. Not new to allergies at all or asthma. I always spell it wrong. I also have COPD from smoking and years of bronchitis. Recently while in the hospital the end of January my sats were dropping so low I had to be put on oxygen. I have been on oxygen since. It has really made me feel so much better. Prior to being put in the hospital let me list a few things that were going on. My drs were trying to find out why I was doing some of this stuff never thought it was due to oxygen deprivation. I was falling alot, falling asleep even while standing, sometimes words came out that made no sense and saying I was fatigued is an understatement.

After being on oxygen this all went away. I take Advair, Albuterol Inhaler, Spireva, nebulizer meds and one other med at bedtime. I am coming off of a bout with bronchitis, 2nd time since Jan. Its so hard to get over this mess. I also take meds for the CD that can lower the immune system.

We recently lost a very good friend to asthma, he was only 41 with a baby under 2, just heart breaking. Recently, anothe family lost their 11 yr old daughter to it and hers had been under control. Its a disease that is very serious no matter.

Well Susie welcome, so sorry you have asthma though. I hope your feeling much more better soon. Are you able to take Singulair? It helps me. So Sorry about your friend that must be real hard, you have my sympathies in that. Sometimes it can be just as hard to loose a friend as it is a family member. I just want to let you know that my mom knows what its like.She had bad asthma from age 7-18.She missed a lot of school because she was sick.Her parents were smokers.She told me a story about being in a hodpital with a tent over her head for her asthma.She's 51 now and has "Fibromyalgia."TC Susie.I hope you feel better.

mb, I almost can't believe this, but I haven't had bronchitis since February.  I haven't had a full-blown asthma attack either.  Back to your question, are you still coughing from the bronchitis?  Is there any chance that could be the cause of your pain?  I don't usually feel pain after an asthma attack.  As far as the fibro that you mentioned, I don't know any thing about that.  I do know when you have several different things going on, it makes it hard determine what is really going on.  I was diagnosed with epilepsy last summer, which I am still trying to get under control.  But, when it first started happening, I just thought it was some weired side effect of Prednisone. I don't know that I have really helped you.

Lucky mb, Does being in AZ really help with asthma and allergies?  Back to the Prednisone, while I have not experienced the side effects you seem to be having, I have had all kinds of dreadful side effects from Pednisone.  But, like you, I enjoy breathing.  I think your plan to let your doctor know what you are experiencing is a good one.  I think those of us who suffer from chronic illnesses tend to be a little tougher than others and we let some things slide that we probably shouldn't.  Last summer when I ended up in the ER, after trying to convince my daughters through my slurred and stuttering speech that it was just the Prednisone and if I just went home and went to bed I would be fine, they were sure I was having a stroke.  That was what they thought when I got to the ER also.  That was the beginning to finding the diagnosis of epilepsy.  I wouldn't rule out that the Prednisone is the culprit, but take it from me and don't always think that whatever is going wrong with your body is because of Prednisone.
